Underneath

I returned from Florida back to my hometown Aurora, Ontario Canada early March 2026 and I needed to paint something to remind me of the beauty and vibrancy of Florida. I started painting her at the moment I arrived.
I chose a ceramic heart shaped bowl I was given in Carlsbad, California as a gift to be my inspiration.

She has golden brown skin from soaking up the sunshine and you can see the reflection of the ocean in her eyes.

Her hair, my favourite colour, pink! The glimpses of colour through her skin shows that she is vibrant underneath.

As she journeys through life, sometimes days are hard and she holds it inside. Often what she portrays on the external is only a perception to others, but what’s underneath can sometimes stay quiet. Nobody sees what goes on inside her head, underneath. This painting reflects the honour and values that are important to her.
